About your newborn portrait experience
CONGRATULATIONS on your perfect little bundle of gorgeousness! Wow... what amazing thing you have done! You've grown a little human, and produced a miracle!
Right now, you are probably a mixture of exhausted, excited and in awe. (If you're feeling amazing and not exhausted... go you!) But now is THE perfect time to get your newborn captured... while they are still so small and squidgy.
Babies grow SOOOO fast. It seems in the blink of an eye... they're all grown and moving out of home! (Well not that fast, but when they're teenagers, you look back and wonder where the time went! Trust me haha)
Capturing these precious memories is so important. Having the opportunity to to be able to look back in years to come, even to show our littles as they grown to be not so littles, just how small they were.
Book in now to capture this amazing time. You can choose to have just bub, or include the family & pets too!

Commonly asked questions:
When is the best time to book my newborn session?
Before they arrive earthside is best! We need to have a general idea of when you're due, because there is such a small window for newborn portraits (first 2 weeks is best!). As soon as Bub has arrived, let me know so we can organise a time that suits everyone.
When is the best time for my newborn session?
The best time is generally 6-10 days old (corrected if they were preemie!) Babies are still typically very sleepy and easy to move around at this age... they're used to be curled up inside! A newborn session takes 3-4 hours and I leave plenty of time for feeding and nappy breaks!
What should I put my newborn in?
Newborn (studio) sessions are best without bub having clothes on at all. I have a range of bonnets and headbands for bub to wear! But if you have a special blanket or family heirloom you'd like to include, let me know! If you have a special colour or theme for your home or baby's nursery, I can choose styles that will complement. Before you come, always make sure that bubs nappy is fastened slighter looser than normal. This helps to stop any nappy lines on bus skin for the photos.
How do I prepare for my newborn session?
Babies are best when sleepy and fed up full. The session will start by you feeding bub to make sure they're content and happy. By undressing baby before feeding, there will be less disturbance afterwards for bub. If bub is bottle fed, bring along a bit more than bub would have during this time, as sometimes they'll feed a little more than usual with the movement during the session. The studio will be kept at a beautiful warm temperature so that baby doesn't get cold.
Can we have family photos with baby too?
Absolutely! I would love to capture your family at this special time! It is so important to capture these precious memories. Babies grow so quickly and only stay this tiny for a short amount of time! I believe it is so important to exist in photos... even if just a few!
What to expect?
Be prepared to come approx. 10 minutes before your scheduled time to ensure baby has a feed and is ready to go. The studio will be kept at approximately 28 degrees, so make sure you have clothes to change into after your photos in case you get hot.
Be prepared for bub to wet and dirty everything! But don't stress, I will have lots of wipes on hand and everything is washed after every session! Just make sure you have plenty of nappies and a change of clothes for parents / siblings in case bub manages to get you!
What do I bring to my session?
- 'Dummy' or pacifier. Even if you do not use one for your baby normally, it is recommended the you have one on hand to help soothe baby if needed during the session.
- Extra Bottles. Whether you are breast or bottle feeding, it is suggested to bring extra just in case. Bub will be moved a bit during the session in between shots, so it is good to have extra on hand just in case they need a little top up / settle.
- Anything that is special to you or baby. Any heirloom items that have been passed through the generations, beanies, blankets etc. Even rattles or special toys that are meaningful. I can try to incorporate them into the session to ensure it's extra special! (But don't worry if you don't have these items! I have plenty of awesome things to use)
- Change of clothes (for all in the photos!) Sometimes things get messy! Babies don't let us know when there is a mess coming! So bring along a change of clothes just in case someone gets hit with the mess!
- Onesies for bub - generally, bub will be naked (or in just a nappy) but it is advised to bring an extra change of clothes for bub just in case.
- Snacks - feel free to bring snacks for yourself or siblings, but make sure they are not foods that can make a mess (if for siblings) like chocolate or Vegemite or butter. Try to bring things like biscuits etc that are typically dryer and make less mess. I will have some healthy snacks available for you too (as well as tea and coffee!) so be sure to let me know if you're allergic to or require any special foods.
Little Boys...
If you are considering getting your baby boy circumcised, it is best to try and organise it for after your session. If this is not achievable, it is advised at least 5 days after bub is circumcised to avoid any chance of hurting bub.
